Patricia was born in Newton Massachusetts a while ago. She graduated from the streets of San Francisco in the early 70's, where she had been a student of Murshid Sam Lewis ("Sufi Sam").
Along with her teaching, Patricia is known for her yoga videos and for her writings, including The Women's Book of Yoga and Health (with Linda Sparrowe).
She was cited by the Yoga Journal as one of the "25 American Yoga Originals who are shaping yoga today". She was featured in Time magazine for her work with yoga and healing. Patricia has a special interest in yoga for women and yoga for depression.
In 1976, she met her teacher Yogacharya BKS Iyengar, and she immersed herself in practice.
Since then she has travelled to India annually to study with him and with his daughter Geeta Iyengar. She has also studied intensively with Dona Holleman in Florence Italy.
Patricia's series of yoga videos, including the Yoga Journal's "Yoga for Beginners," has contributed to the current popularity of yoga throughout the world. She has been widely featured in various magazine articles, books, and calendars.
Patricia is an active teacher in the Boston area as well as in regular workshops in the United States and abroad. She is often a featured teacher in yoga conventions.
Her teaching is also available in numerous books and magazine articles. Many experience her instruction on a regular basis through one of her many highly popular yoga video tapes and/or and DVDs.
Patricia has recently closed The BKS Iyengar Yoga Studio in Somerville Massachsetts which she co-founded and directed for seventeen years.

When not practicing or teaching, she enjoys classical music and literature.
Currently she lives with her partner Tom Alden in a two story brick cave in Cambridge with their one Ganesh and three Quan Yins.
