The sacrum is the large, triangular bone at the base of the spine and at the upper and back part of the pelvis. The name is derived from the Latin
sacer meaning sacred. The sacroiliac joint between the sacrum and the ilium bone of the pelvis is a strong, weightbearing joint which transmits all the forces of the upper body to the pelvis and the legs. When the pelvis is misaligned, the sacroiliac (SI) joints – there are two, one on each side, but they move together as a single unit – are worked incorrectly and compression can occur resulting in lower back pain.

In this workshop we will explore the working of the pelvis and the sacroiliac joints and learn how to create maximum space for freedom and flexibility to relieve compression.

Greg Anton, a certified Iyengar yoga teacher, graduated from Harvard Law School and worked for many years as a public-interest lawyer before devoting himself to the study of yoga. Greg lives and teaches year-round in Provincetown, Massachusetts.

Did you get an owner’s manual with your birth certificate? Most of us didn’t! Fortunately for us, this sister science of Yoga can help fill this need.

Ayurveda literally means “Knowledge of Life”.  It offers a comprehensive philosophy of life and health that takes into account all parts of human existence, from its most subtle to its most concrete form. It is both a preventive and curative form of healthcare. Ayurveda shows us how to nurture ourselves, as physical and psychological individuals, though the understanding of nature. Combined with the spiritual and purifying aspects of Yoga, Ayurveda is a truly pure, holistic practice for well Being.

This workshop will be a combination of lecture, discussion and practicum. You will learn how diet, lifestyle, meditation, age and environmental factors affect your consciousness and health. We will talk about symptoms of common imbalances and how they might be rectified using the common sense approach of Ayurveda. Most of all, this workshop is about enabling each of you to take control of your own well Being.

Tim Duncan is a graduate of the Kripalu School of Ayurveda. He is recognized by the National Ayurvedic Medical Association as an Ayurvedic Practitioner.
