This brand new latex-free ecological yoga mat is made from Jute and PER. Get durability from the jute fibers, yet they will decompose easily when you eventually get rid of the mat after years of wear. The mat is made by meshing jute fibers with patented PER plastic that is phthalate-free. PER is safer for workers during manufacturing and is an important innovation in reducing worldwide use of harmful synthetic chemicals. You will love the earthy natural look of this mat. Yet, it performs as good or better than typical yoga mats and feels similar. We are excited that jute plants are susainable resource.Jute cleans the air by consuming carbon dioxide, which contributes to the health of the planet. Jute/PER mats are machine washable. unique mat

I had this mat when they were difficult to find. It was one of the first environmentally-friendly mats available. It is unusual! I appreciated the nubby texture. Note: I do not agree that you will be enjoying "years of wear." I thought it wore out more quickly than others because of the texture - but it IS worth it.

...or I'm too tall. Though no one has ever accused me of that.
If this mat were longer than 5'8" (68") it would be the best
mat I ever owned. Unfortunately either my skull or my feet
hang off the mat in supine poses.
