One should not forget that it's not just the "cardio" or the "burning of calories" that helps someone lose weight when it comes to excersise (in this case asana practice).

All physical movement has positive effects on the body regardsless if you burn alot of calories. First of all; one spend a few hours on something else = less time to eat. Regular excersise makes one sleep better, it makes ones mood better and it can reduce stress, pain and anxiety = one will probabaly eat less.

I think it's important to look at those things before, or at least at the same time as, you look at how much calories you burn by doing for example yoga. Losing weight, as well as yoga, is much more about what's going on in your head rather than what your body is doing.

I've seen alot of people starting to excersise and then stop because they didn't think they burned enough calories on it, so it didn't matter for their weight loss. That's really sad, because everytime you use your body you benefit from it, in life and in weight loss.

Namaste.
