What is Iyengar Yoga?
Iyengar Yoga was created by B.K.S Iyengar. This program helps to focus on aligning the human body through the use of various postures and breathing exercises. There are various aids used which helps in performed in this yoga such as ropes, cushions, belts, straps, sand bags etc. These props are helpful for the beginners especially as they would be able to perform this yoga, which they may not other be capable of doing.
How Iyengar Yoga is Different from Other Types of Yoga?
The Iyengar yoga is based on the traditional eight limbs of yoga and it also helps in the development of stamina, strength, balance, flexibility, meditation, and concentration. However Iyengar yoga focuses more on the structural alignment of the body through the implementation of various postures and breath-control exercises, which ultimately contributes to uniting body, mind, and spirit. It differs from other types of yoga in timing, sequence, and technique:
