Types of Yoga Exercises for Kids
There is a variety of yoga exercises that you can teach your child. The minute you learn the benefits of such exercises on your children, you will be determined to make the experience as fun as possible so that your children are always eager for their yoga exercises. Children do not concentrate on one activity for a very long time, so you will need to diversify on the yoga exercises that you will engage your kids in.
One of the different types of yoga exercises for kids is downward dog. In order to achieve this pose, you will have to show your child how to get down on all fours so that the pose will resemble that of a dog. You definitely have to be on your knees. You will then stretch your arms in front of you and lean on your hips while stretching backwards so that the pose resembles that of a dog stretching. Your breathing has to be relaxed and the pose held for a count up to ten. This type of exercise helps children avoid harmful habits.
Another type of yoga exercise for kids is lion. Here, you will have to sit up straight on the floor but with your knees underneath you. You will have to open your mouth, stretch out your tongue as much as you can, and then roar. You are allowed to breathe out with force.
Other poses include those of imitating cobra, butterfly, cat and cow. When you look keenly at these poses and the effect they will have on your kids, you will realize that the exercise helps in increasing their creativity, calmness, fitness, focus, and intellect while reducing stress.
The world we live in is full of stressful situations and it will not be right to assume that our children do not face the same trials. When children go to school, they might get stressed by a certain situation that includes not understanding what the teacher taught in class, not doing so well in a particular sport, or being bullied by older students. Yoga exercises for kids help relieve such stress.
