Types of Relaxation Yoga Poses
When you keenly research about yoga, you will come to learn that there are many yoga poses that help in reaching different states. This diversity is what has attracted many to yoga and the benefits associated with the practice. When you are a beginner, you need to engage in poses that are only meant for beginners and advance slowly. You cannot just start with poses that people in advanced stages of yoga are practicing. Rather than achieving relaxation, you will end up with bodily injury that can cost you more than you would have imagined.
Among the different relaxation yoga poses is the snake pose. This pose forces you to lie down assuming the posture of a snake. This pose is good for spinal exercise. Snake pose helps in restoring your nervous system and spinal column’s tonicity. However, this posture is not ideal for pregnant women, women who are going through their menstrual cycle, or men with a hernia.
Another relaxation yoga pose is the plough pose. To practice this pose, you need to lie down with your face upwards and stretch out your arms to your sides. The palm of your hands should be facing downwards. While inhaling, stretch your legs up while they are together to achieve a right angle. During a slow exhalation process, raise your hips while lowering your legs beyond your head. While getting used to this posture, you can lower your legs further and further so that your toes spread way lower beyond your head. This pose has to come gradually.
Other poses that you can incorporate in relaxation yoga include camel pose and corpse pose. When you do not have an instructor, videos, and manuals can help you to know the posture that you are supposed to achieve and how to go about it. You need to listen to the instructions carefully to avoid causing any bodily injury that will force you to seek medical attention.
