How Can Anusara Yoga Benefit Beginners?

Anusara Yoga is a special kind of yoga since it tries to synthesize with the western requirements of practical life and the Hindu way of life, which has more to do with Karma. The basic principle of this yoga is trying to be in alignment with the supreme spirit. Though it is common to see even beginners going in for the various asanas which are a part of this yoga program, quite often, the going is tough for beginners. However, let us, over the next few lines, try and find out how the various asanas could be tailor-made for beginners.

The most important thing that one has to learn about Anusara Yoga is that it begins with the three A’s: Attitude, Alignment and Action (or the result of every yoga position).

When Anusara Yoga was first introduced by John Friend, he placed a lot of importance on attitude. According to him, the attitude of a person who practices it manifests itself in the correct or incorrect posture of the various asanas within this form of yoga. The attitude plays a very important role in awakening the soul. It helps the practitioners of this yoga form learn to enjoy life to the maximum.

Alignment is another important concept that forms the backbone of this form of Yoga. It is about understanding the tantric concept of the power or being awake at all points in time. The basic rules on which the principles of alignment work have been classified under five broad categories. They are learning to open the asanas with a grace, ensuring proper focus of the muscular energy, creating the right energy in the inner spiral, enabling the creation of the right outer spiral energy and lastly, learning to master the principal of organic energy which is opposite to spiral energy.

The last pillar on which Anusara Yoga is built is Action. This principle is all about natural flow of energy. This ensures stability, steadiness and an independence that is joyful for the yogi.
