Experience Calmness with Ashtanga Yoga

Yoga is mostly seen as a way of uniting the body and soul, but when done in a proper manner, the series of poses help in building muscle mass. Increasing muscle mass is very important when it comes to losing weight. Scientists have been able to prove that the greater your muscle mass the higher your metabolic reaction rate. When you have a high metabolic rate, burn calories faster and lose weight from fat. There are ashtanga yoga poses that facilitate weight loss and they include warrior one, downward dog, and child’s pose.

When you look at the high plank pose, it helps increase your upper body muscle mass, hence you can maximize on this pose to ensure weight loss. In order to achieve this pose, you will have to come on all your fours on a mat. While on the mat, lift up your knees so that you support your body with your feet and hands. You will have to step your feet back until you achieve a diagonal line from your hands to your feet and you should strive to make this line as straight as possible. You need to ensure that your shoulders are positioned directly above the hands, and this you will do by rotating your weight. Once you succeed, you need to hold the pose for 20 to 30 seconds to achieve good results from the pose.

Another ashtanga pose you can practice is Warrior one. This pose usually targets the lower body’s muscle mass. When you practice this pose for about 20 to 30 seconds, you will be in a position to increase your muscle mass on the lower body. To achieve this pose, you need to start with the downward dog pose. You need to take a few deep breaths while on the pose, then move your right foot towards your hands, which makes you achieve a lounge position. Proceed to lifting your hands from the ground and raising your body. While you are stretching your torso towards the sky, your arms need to be overhead. However, the toes of your right foot need to be facing straight ahead while the knee is bent at an angle of 90 degrees.
