Advantages of a 30 minute yoga workout

Often cited as the perfect time frame to devote to exercise, a few 30 minute workouts a week can make all the difference when it comes to managing your weight and fitness. Sometimes people set outrageous fitness goals for themselves that work for a few weeks then fizzle out. The most important thing when planning your exercise regimes is to make something that is achievable so you will stick to it. Most yoga classes usually run for at least an hour, so if you’re looking to find the perfect thirty-minute workout you might have to be a little more creative.

Here are some suggestions for easy ways to make a great 30 minute yoga workout routine:

As 60 minute yoga workout DVDs are the most common, you might already have one lying around. If so, why not just cut your DVD in half? The only thing you will need to consider is that midway through the DVD it assumes you have been already working out for 30 minutes, so when starting the second half you’ll have to do your own warm up.

If you don’t have an old DVD lying around, you might like to search the Internet for a specific 30 minute yoga workout. The best thing about doing shorter routines through to completion is if you feel like working out for a bit longer, you can just do another one back to back. Finding a specialized yoga routine will probably mean that the person who created it planned it properly, so there is a good division between warming up, working out and cooling down. This is the best option for a beginner.

If you are more experienced in yoga, perhaps you have a few favorite poses you would like to do in succession for half an hour. It can be really relaxing to do self-guided yoga, as it allows you to follow your mood and feel what your body needs. Be sure to spend enough time at the beginning with stretching poses that open up your spine and allow you to breathe deeply.

Whichever method you decide for finding your perfect 30 minute yoga workout, don’t forget to use this half hour to relax your body and mind. One of the best things about yoga is that you can see how easily you progress and gain strength, which will encourage you to push yourself even harder.
