What Yoga Exercises for Sciatica Can You Use?

Sciatica, caused by the pinching of spinal nerves, can be extremely painful. The inflammation that comes from the condition can also be intolerable. However, there are several yoga exercises for sciatica that can be used to keep this condition from being too harmful. You should be using these exercises to make it a little easier for your body to feel a little more relaxed.

The Supta Padangusthasana is the first of the positions to use for relieving the pains of sciatica. This involves lying on your back while you leave your legs bent up with the knees in the air and the feet on the ground. A yoga belt should be used to lift one leg straight up into the air and towards your chest. You can do this by repeating the movements on both legs.

The Intense Side Stretch is another exercise to use. This is where you stand on the back of a wall and turn one foot inward while stretching to your side away from the inward foot. Your arm must be fully outstretched. This includes placing your opposite arm on the floor near a yoga block placed at the foot that is not being turned inward. This is used to assist your body with stretching intensely to keep it stretched out the right way.

The Torso Twist is another choice among yoga exercises for sciatica. You can do this by sitting on a chair and by pushing one side of the chair from your body as you pull one side of your body into the chair. This can work by holding the pose for about thirty seconds and by then repeating that same pose the other way around.

The Bridge pose can be used to help you out. It works by having you sit on a blanket with your legs outward. You must lower your back down as you exhale and then press your palms down to the sides of the bolster. The legs can stick together while the toes are upward. The heels and toes should then stretch away from the torso so the legs can stretch outward. This has to be held for a few minutes.

You can use these yoga exercises for sciatica to help relieve pain in your spine. These have to work to make it easier for you to keep your body feeling well and to keep the inflammation of sciatica from being worse than it already is.
